Abstract
VLSI architectures of subband filterbanks for HDTV have been
investigated in order
to achieve compact realization. lmplementation of QMF filters in
polyphase structure
provides large savings in logic complexity. The polyphase structure
has also the advantage of
reducing the operating dock frequency. A further reduction of
hardware expense can be
achieved by dedicated filter realizations for specific filter
coefficients. Considering these
measures VLSI chips in CMOS technology have been designed for a two-dimensional
QMF filterbank with 10*14 taps.
